Dell Professional Associations & Non-Profits.Energy, Climate Action & Sustainability.Backup and Recovery and Data Protection.I even used it on a pretty complicated diagonal shower pattern. Once you get the hang of it you can pretty quickly use it for any type of layout. The toughest part is probably figuring out to quickly draw that multi-cell grid. If that sounds a little daunting at first it's not - just practice a little. (Note that the room must be to the same scale as the grid.) Now you can just move the room around over the grid and experiment with different ways to place your edges, cuts, etc. You'll need to set transparencies so that you can see the grid inside the walls of the room. Place the outline of your room on the grid. Now make a grid much larger than the room. (You can play with the drawings using nominal sizing, but most tiles measure a little more or a little less, and they may not necessarily be the same in each direction.) Note that it is imperative that you actually measure the tile!! Do not use the nominal size. So a 12x12 tile with 1/4" grout would yield a grid cell size of 12-1/4 x 12-1/4. Basically you add 1/2 the grout line to each side of the tile. You must account for both the tile and your grout lines. The grid is the tricky part and where you'll need a little math. Nothing fancy, just the ability to know how long a line segment is and an ability to specify how long you want it. The program ideally can draw dimensionally scaled layouts, and most can these days. You'll need to be able to draw two things:Ģ) a grid that represents the tile pattern as installed

I assume we are talking floors here? you can do this on the cheap with a very basic drawing program and just a nominal amount of math. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. I will of course, ask the installers opinion on whether the tile size and design I would like to use will work in my space. I'm just the type that likes to do all my research and go in totally prepared before speaking with someone.

#Precision tile pro 2 1 software
Is my above software wish available, for a reasonable cost? If not, do you have any other suggestions? As mentioned, I am planning to hire a professional for the installation. I'm artistically and technically challenged.although I can and have measured my rooms. I'm no good with trying to draw a room to scale on graph paper, etc. if 18 x 18 set in a diamond pattern in the bathroom and hallways will work given their size). Before I get my heart set on a certain tile/design, I want to make sure it would work. Basically I would like to enter the dimensions of a room (preferably for the entire house and add in walls, etc), then somehow enter the tile size, and see how the tile size and design would look in the room. I hate the carpet in the house - 9 years old and it looks like it, even though we've never worn our shoes in the house! Right now, I'm leaning towards 16 x 16 or 18 x 18 porcelain tiles.Īnyway, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a free or low cost software for mapping out each room. This includes the entry foyer, dining room, hallways, bathrooms (which have carpet in them!), den, kitchen, and breakfast nook.

I'm now planning to do a lot of work on the house, the major part being my plan to tile everything in my house except the 4 bedrooms (correction -I'm planning to pay someone to tile everything in my house). Built new for me 9 years ago, but I went with the basics for everything as it was my first house. I live in a 9 year old house on a cement slab in Texas. I've been browsing the boards for a while, trying to gain knowledge of tiling.
